
Nepal’s Armed Police Force has confiscated 570 kg of marijuana from a pickup truck disguised as a vegetable delivery, attempting to cross into India in Morang district.
The marijuana was found around 11 PM on Saturday at Ramchowk in Jahada Rural Municipality-4 by the APF.
An APF team from the Border Outpost in Nocha intercepted the pickup after noticing its suspicious route to India. The driver fled the scene when security forces tried to stop the vehicle.
Marijuana Discovered in Vegetable Truck
During a security check of the abandoned truck, officers found 19 packets of marijuana concealed among chayote and cabbage.
Superintendent of Police Gehendra Bahadur Bhandari, head of the APF in Morang, confirmed that the total weight of the seized marijuana was 570 kg.
The vehicle, registered as Pra 1-01-00 Cha 7422, was en route to India when the security team intervened.
Criminal Investigation in Progress
Nepal Police has been tasked with investigating the seized marijuana and pickup truck for further legal action.
Authorities are currently searching for the driver who escaped, believed to be involved in the drug transportation. They will also look into the smuggling methods and intended destination of the contraband.
This seizure follows intensified efforts by security agencies to combat drug trafficking in the region.
