South Korea condemns Saudi Arabia’s “attacks by Houthi rebels”

South Korea has officially condemned the recent attacks by Houthi rebels targeting Saudi Arabia, expressing concern over regional stability and the safety of civilians. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lee Ji-woo stated, “South Korea strongly condemns the attacks carried out by Houthi rebels in Saudi Arabia. Such actions threaten peace and stability in the region and undermine efforts toward peaceful resolution of the conflict.”
The Houthi movement, based in Yemen, has claimed responsibility for a series of missile and drone strikes targeting oil facilities and civilian infrastructure across Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. These attacks have escalated tensions in the Middle East and prompted international calls for restraint and dialogue.
South Korea, a close ally of Saudi Arabia and a participant in regional diplomacy, reiterated its commitment to regional peace and stability. The government called for all parties to exercise restraint and engage in constructive dialogue to de-escalate tensions. The condemnation aligns with South Korea’s broader foreign policy stance advocating for peaceful conflict resolution and respect for sovereignty. It also signals Seoul’s support for Saudi Arabia’s security and regional stability efforts.
While maintaining diplomatic channels, South Korea also urged the international community to work collaboratively to prevent further violence and promote diplomatic solutions to the Yemen conflict.
