Nepal Police Officers presenting illegal firecrackers seized from Indian nationals in Chitwan

Two Indians were arrested in Chitwan with over 80,000 firecrackers valued at more than Rs 623,000.

The police confirmed the arrests, stating,

“We have apprehended the two suspects. The confiscated firecrackers include Bhirjhiri, Khursani, Chakra, and Rocket types, totaling Rs 623,465.”

The suspects are identified as 41-year-old Sanjay Sah Teli and 29-year-old Kanhaiya Kumar, both from Motihari district in Bihar, India. Teli resided in Harihartol, Kalika Municipality-6, while Kumar lived in Bahraghare, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-3.

A total of 80,372 firecrackers and Rs 172,300 in cash were seized from various locations in Chitwan.

Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Poudel confirmed the arrests and stated that the suspects will face charges related to explosives. The police plan to request an extension of their detention for further investigation into the transportation and storage of the firecrackers.

As these firecrackers have been classified as explosives, legal procedures will be followed.

The police urge the public to report any illegal trading, storage, or transportation of firecrackers and other explosive items to the nearest police station.

This confiscation highlights concerns about unregulated firecrackers, particularly during peak demand periods. The police encourage residents to remain vigilant and collaborate with authorities to prevent the dangerous handling and distribution of explosive materials.
