Police have apprehended two more inmates who escaped from Dolpa District Prison by digging a tunnel. This increases the total number of recaptured prisoners to four, while four remain at large.
The arrests occurred early Wednesday (Nov 4) around 3:00 a.m. in Tripurasundari Municipality-4, Dolpa district. The arrested individuals are Kaliprasad Rokaya from Tripurasundari Municipality-7 and Kapil Pariyar from Nalgad Municipality-9, Jajarkot.
“They have been arrested,” stated Junu Hamal, the Chief District Officer of Dolpa.
Early Morning Arrest of Escapees
Rokaya and Pariyar were detained during a search operation in Tripurasundari Municipality-4.
These arrests follow a police operation in Rukum West, where two other escapees were also caught, bringing the total recaptured to half of those who fled the prison.
Two Earlier Arrests in Rukum West
Police previously arrested Ram Bahadur BK from Aathbiskot Municipality-10, Rukum West, and Resham Rana from Kumakh Rural Municipality-5, Salyan. They were apprehended around 10:30 a.m. near the Kholi riverbank in Damachaur, Aathbiskot Municipality-6.
A five-member police team, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Buddhiram Wali, conducted the operation. The two men attempted to escape when police stopped a jeep traveling from Damachaur to Radi, leading to their custody and identification.
Four Escapees Still at Large
Authorities continue to search for the four remaining escapees:
- Hari Bahadur Budha from Tripurasundari Municipality-4, Dolpa
- Yagya BK from Barekot Rural Municipality-1, Jajarkot
- Tilak Bhandari from Aathbiskot Municipality-5, Rukum West
- Aadesh Bhandari from Ward No. 3, Aathbiskot Municipality, Rukum West
Police teams have been dispatched to various locations to locate these individuals.
