Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa said money had no role in the dispute over the party’s legitimacy.

He made the remarks in a video statement on Thursday, November 5, following a controversy surrounding an audio recording involving intermediary Inam Sapkota.

Responding to allegations that large sums were involved, Thapa said, “I can guarantee that no money or irregular activity is connected to the party legitimacy issue.”

Thapa Says He Has Nothing to Hide

In the video, Thapa sought to reassure party supporters that his position was secure.

“I can assure you that I Gagan Thapa, your elder brother, younger brother, son, friend and party president do not have a shaky foundation. My hands are clean,” he said.

He urged supporters to stand up for him with confidence, saying he had done nothing wrong.

Responding to Questions About the Inam Sapkota Audio

The statement followed the release of an audio clip involving Inam Sapkota, which prompted questions about whether money was involved in the Nepali Congress legitimacy dispute.

Thapa firmly rejected the claims.

“Millions of rupees are being mentioned, but not even a penny changed hands, and no irregular money was involved,” he said.

Urges People to Raise Questions in the Right Place

Thapa also said he did not want people asking the wrong questions.

“The wrong questions should not be asked. We should ask the right questions in the right place,” he said.

His remarks appear to address concerns among party members and supporters.

Nepali Congress Legitimacy Dispute

The controversy has brought a new dimension to the dispute over the Nepali Congress’s legitimacy.

Thapa’s statement was a response to the allegations. He has strongly denied that money or wrong doing was involved in the party’s legal battle.
