CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli criticized the current government for being politically vengeful and misusing state resources for their own benefit. At a party event organized by the UML Lalitpur District Committee in Chyasal on Monday, Oli claimed that the ruling coalition is trying to silence opposition voices instead of addressing important issues related to the economy and administration.
He said, “This government is more focused on silencing dissent than solving problems.” He also stated that the administration is actively working to suppress opposition voices. “The recent investigations and actions taken by the government show that they are driven by political motives. They are determined to punish those who oppose them,” Oli added.
He pointed out that, in his experience, “law enforcement and investigation agencies have become selective, targeting only opposition leaders while ignoring those from the ruling party.” He also mentioned that “the government’s inability to maintain economic stability and implement public service reforms is a major concern.”

Finally, he urged for unity within the party, saying, “We must stay united to avoid confusion among our supporters caused by factionalism and disorganization.”
He called on all UML leaders and members to highlight the government’s failures while promoting the party’s goals at the grassroots level. “I want to emphasize that the CPN-UML will remain a strong and constructive opposition, resisting any actions that threaten democracy or the rule of law in our country,” Oli concluded.
