LPG Distributors to Sell Cylinders at Rs 2,060 Amid Rising Transport Costs via Alternate Routes

LPG Cylinder Price in Nepal

The Nepal LPG Cylinder Industry Association has mandated that liquefied petroleum gas distributors maintain the government-established price of 2,060 rupees per cylinder, notwithstanding escalating transportation expenses resulting from supply route obstructions.

The association promulgated this directive on Wednesday, compelling LPG enterprises to adhere to the pricing framework established by the National Oil Corporation (NOC).

LPG distributors operating in the Kathmandu Valley have previously imposed an additional charge of 105.38 rupees per cylinder to offset elevated transportation costs incurred due to flooding along the Bhote Koshi River, which rendered the Prithvi Highway impassable.

This disruption necessitated that LPG companies restructure their distribution networks and procure cylinders from alternative facilities situated outside Kathmandu.

Commencing August 30, cooking gas suppliers delivering to Kathmandu have sourced refills from Makwanpur, Parsa, Bara, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, and Dhanusha, thereby requiring extended transportation routes with substantially higher associated costs.

Despite these financial implications, the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has directed operators to maintain the NOC-mandated price of 2,060 rupees per cylinder.

In essence, LPG suppliers are confronting logistical challenges stemming from road closures caused by flooding that have disrupted transportation corridors to the capital city.

For consumers, the association’s directive ensures that cooking gas cylinder pricing remains consistent with the NOC-established rate of 2,060 rupees, thereby precluding the incorporation of supplementary transportation surcharges by suppliers.
