Consumers in Kathmandu Valley will be able to buy cooking gas and exchange LPG cylinders at six designated locations from Sunday, October 11, as gas companies introduce a special service ahead of the festive season.
The service, announced by the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, will operate daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm until October 17.
The arrangement aims to help households facing difficulties obtaining cooking gas, particularly consumers who cannot easily find their usual brand of cylinder.
Where to Buy or Exchange Gas Cylinders
The six designated locations and available gas brands are:
- Sifalchaur, Kathmandu: Everest and Sugam gas at Gas and Oxygen Traders.
- Pepsi Cola, Kathmandu: Sagar gas.
- Balaju Industrial Estate, Kathmandu: Nepal, HP, Geeta, Rajdhani and Triveni gas cylinders outside the main gate.
- Sukedhara, Kathmandu: Baba and Shree gas.
- Kalanki, Kathmandu: Saibaba and Shreekrishna gas.
- Harisiddhi, Lalitpur: Shriram gas.

Special Arrangement Ahead of Festivals
The association said the service was introduced after some consumers reported difficulties purchasing cooking gas and exchanging cylinders from different brands before the festivals.
Association President Diwan Chand said LPG imports from Indian refineries were continuing smoothly. A total of 4,213,661 cylinders were sold and distributed in August, according to the association.
The initiative has been coordinated with Nepal Oil Corporation and is being implemented with support from the Gas Dealers Federation.
Cylinder Exchange Rules
The association has clarified that the exchange service is limited to cylinders belonging to its member companies distributed in Kathmandu Valley.
Consumers should visit the designated centres rather than expecting cylinder exchanges to be available at every gas shop.
The special arrangement is intended to make it easier for households to obtain cooking gas during the festive period and reduce the inconvenience of searching for a particular brand.
