Nepal Announce 15-Member Squad for League 2 Series in Oman

Nepal Squad Announced for ICC World Cup League 2 Series in Oman

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has revealed the squad for the national cricket team ahead of the final ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 series in Oman this October.

Nepal will compete against host nation Oman and Canada in a three team series, aiming to improve their position in the League 2 standings and maintain their ODI status.

These matches against Oman will mark the last four games of Nepal’s current League 2 campaign, with two matches scheduled against both Oman and Canada.

Currently ranked seventh in the League 2 table with 24 points from 32 matches, Nepal has the opportunity to qualify directly for the World Cup Global Qualifier by finishing in the top four, and to secure their ODI status by placing in the top six.

Oman, facing challenges in the competition, is under pressure, and both teams will need vital wins in their final matches to stay in the top six.

Sandeep Lamichhane will return as captain for these matches, leading the team in this critical phase of the League 2 campaign.

Nepal’s final fixtures in Oman are set for October 9 to 19, with Canada completing the three-team series lineup.

These last four matches in Oman offer Nepal their best chance to achieve their goals and ensure ODI cricket remains part of their national sport.

Nepal’s League 2 fixtures in Oman include:

  • Nepal vs Oman
  • Nepal vs Canada
  • Oman vs Canada

Nepal must maximize points from these fixtures while keeping an eye on other teams‘ matches in the standings.

Based on previous analyses, the most realistic goal for Nepal is to finish in the top six and retain their ODI status. Winning three or all four of their remaining matches could significantly boost their position.

As the final fixtures approach, Nepal’s performance in Oman will determine whether they can remain among the six teams that keep their ODI status for the next cycle.
