NEPSE Resumes Share Trading After Technical Outage Resolved

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has officially restarted regular trading on September 22 . This comes after technical teams fixed a server problem that caused an unexpected stop in its Trade Management System (TMS).

“We are happy to share that the issue is resolved. The server is back online and synced with the data center,” said the market regulator. “Investors and brokerage firms can now safely place their orders.”

The technical team worked hard to fix the glitch affecting the servers at NEPSE’s TMS, which led to the emergency shut down of stock trading. With the problem fixed, NEPSE and brokerage firms provided TMS Operational Updates & Guidelines for Investors. These guidelines are meant to help investors understand the return to normal trading activities.

  • Investors are advised to log into their brokerage’s TMS portals to check the status of any pending, canceled, or executed orders before the Technical Halt.
  • To help investors affected by the morning disruption, NEPSE has extended trading session timings. This gives everyone more time to manage their transactions.
  • Additionally, NEPSE’s technical department is actively monitoring the load on broker’s TMS connections to prevent similar issues in the future.

“The fast recovery came after a request from the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). They asked for a full technical audit of NEPSE’s trading setup to prevent server problems during busy times,” noted market analysts. “Since trading restarted, benchmark indices have remained stable, indicating that investor confidence has bounced back quickly.”
