
On Monday afternoon, a public passenger bus at Tripureshwor Chowk in front of the Department of Passports in Kathmandu caught fire, seriously damaging the vehicle and injuring the driver.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Naresh Raj Subedi of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, there were no passengers on board the Riddhisiddhi Yatayat bus, registered as Ba 5 Kha 4274, when the fire broke out. After being pulled from the wreckage, the driver, Dawa Lama, 25, was sent to the hospital to receive medical attention.
During the incident, Dawa Lama suffered burn injuries. He was swiftly removed from the car and sent to Kirtipur Burn Hospital by emergency personnel.
Equipped with fire tenders and staff, emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to assess the situation and worked assiduously to contain the fire. The cause of the fire is being thoroughly investigated, according to the local police.
