A 28-year-old man from Nepal named Anuj Kamat was beaten by Indian border guards near the Nepal-India border in Biratnagar after a fight started as he was returning to Nepal.
The incident happened on Saturday in Darauna, a small area near Biratnagar. Kamat lives in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-2.
Police say that Kamat and the Indian border guards got into an argument as he was crossing back into Nepal. During the fight, Kamat threw a stone at one of the guards and hit him.
After this, Kamat went into Nepal, but the Indian guards followed him, pulled him back to the border area, and beat him before moving him toward the Indian side.
Nepal’s security forces were present at the time.

A video on social media shows Nepali security workers trying to stop Kamat at first. The video then shows Indian guards hitting him with sticks and taking him toward India. People at the scene can be seen holding Kamat as he tried to get away.
The Indian guards later gave Kamat to Nepal Police after holding and beating him for some time.
The local police office kept Kamat for one day and released him to his family on Sunday.
DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra, a police spokesman, said Kamat was let go with his wife present and sent home.
Police also said Kamat uses drugs and was not in a normal state when the fight happened.
The incident has raised concerns about how security workers act at the Nepal-India border and why Kamat was taken from Nepal toward India.
More information about what happened and any steps taken by officials were not yet available.
