Two Workers Killed, One Rescued After Landslide Buries Road Construction Site in Baglung

Baglung, Two road construction workers lost their lives, and one was seriously injured when a mound of earth collapsed while they were upgrading a road in Baglung district on Monday morning.

The incident happened around 7:30 am as three laborers worked on the Kapra-Bohoragaun-Chhapakhani-Pyuthan road in Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3.

The workers were buried under the earth after the roadside mound gave way.

The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Lal Bahadur Budhathoki from Salyan and 32-year-old Raju Thapa from Gaighat, Udayapur, according to the Baglung District Police Office.

Rescue of the Third Worker

Meanwhile, 35-year-old Krishna Gharti Magar from Rolpa was rescued with serious injuries and taken to Province 5 Hospital Burtibang for treatment.

Locals reported that the three workers were digging the road for upgrades when an excavator, operated by Bhadra Malla, was also working in the area. The excavator’s registration number is Lu 1 Ka 3446.

The workers were trapped under the collapsing earth as the excavator was in operation.

Rescue operations began immediately, resulting in the recovery of two deceased workers. Police and authorities continue to investigate the incident.
