Two Arrested With More Than 25 Quintals of Marijuana in Inaruwa

Police have arrested two individuals after seizing 2,566 kilograms of marijuana from a truck in Inaruwa, Sunsari.

The drugs were discovered late Sunday night when police conducted a stop and search at Sakhuwagachhi Chowk in Inaruwa Municipality-3. The truck, with registration number Na 7 Kha 1825, was traveling from east to west.

According to Pushparaj Malla, the chief of Sunsari police, the marijuana was concealed in 83 bags and hidden under a layer of cabbage to disguise the illegal cargo.

Arrest of Driver and Helper

The police apprehended 33-year-old Raju Rai, the truck driver from Shahidbhumi Rural Municipality-2 in Dhankuta, along with 18-year-old Sandeep Rai, the vehicle’s helper.

Both suspects are currently detained at the Sunsari District Police Office as authorities investigate the seizure and the suspected transport of the drugs.

This significant seizure is part of a growing trend of marijuana trafficking cases in eastern Nepal, where police have intercepted large quantities of the drug being transported through various routes.

Authorities are looking into the source of the marijuana, its intended destination, and the alleged transportation network involved.
