Four Arrested for Defrauding Job Seekers With Foreign Employment Promises

Police have arrested four people for allegedly defrauding job seekers with false promises of high-paying foreign jobs.

The suspects reportedly collected money from victims after claiming they would secure employment in the UK, Dubai, and Portugal.

The arrested individuals are 41-year-old Yogendra Raut Yadav from Dhanusha, 25-year-old Alisha Madhikarmi from Bhaktapur, 29-year-old Haris Singh Mahara from Darchula, and 45-year-old Rajesh Prasad Jaiswal from Bara.

Victims Allegedly Paid Large Amounts

Complaints to the police reveal that Yadav allegedly took Rs 300,000 from a victim by promising a job in the UK.

Madhikarmi is accused of taking Rs 550,000 for a job in Dubai, while Mahara allegedly collected Rs 1.091 million with the promise of employment in Portugal.

Jaiswal reportedly took Rs 185,000 from another victim after promising a job in Dubai, but then cut off all contact.

Arrests Made in Kathmandu Valley

A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, acted on the victims’ complaints to apprehend the suspects.

Yadav was arrested in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11, Madhikarmi in Bhaktapur Municipality-4, and Mahara in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14 on Tuesday.

Jaiswal was arrested in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, Bhaktapur, on Wednesday, according to the Central Police Newsroom.

Police continue to investigate the allegations and the suspects’ roles in the foreign employment fraud cases.
