Rock Falls on Moving Bus in Kapilvastu, Four Injured

Early Tuesday morning in Chorkhola, Shivraj Municipality-1, Kapilvastu, four passengers were injured when a large rock struck a moving bus.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am while the bus, with registration number Su Pa Pra 01-001 Kha 3770, was traveling from Chitwan to Bardiya.

Armed Police Inspector Dil Kumar Shrestha reported that the rock hit the bus, trapping several passengers in their seats.

The injured passengers include Dwarika Prasad Tharu, 37, and Suresh Lal Tharu, 35, both from Bardiya; Salina Sunar, 20, from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-11, Chitwan; and Bhagawati Kandel, 40, from Bhimdatta Municipality-10, Kanchanpur.

All four injured passengers were rescued and taken to Bhalubang Hospital in Dang for treatment.

A rescue team from the Armed Police Force Nepal’s No. 29 Jwalamai Battalion, led by DSP Baburam Thapa, arrived at the scene after being notified of the accident and carried out the rescue.

At the time of the incident, there were 30 people on board the bus.

This event highlights ongoing concerns about rockfalls and landslides on Nepal’s roads during the monsoon season, particularly in hilly and mountainous regions.
