PM Balen Shah UNGA Speech to Focus on Climate Justice, Global Wars

Prime Minister Balen Shah is going to speak for Nepal at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York this week. He will make an important request for global action to deal with serious issues like climate change, ongoing wars, and the development challenges faced by mountainous countries.

As the leader of Nepal’s diplomatic team, PM Shah will urge stronger global efforts to address the harmful effects of climate change on the fragile Himalayan environment and to find peaceful solutions to the conflicts happening in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

Diplomatic sources have pointed out three main themes that PM Shah will discuss during his address to the UN:

  1. Climate Justice and Himalayan Protection:
PM Shah will emphasize how Nepal suffers greatly from environmental harm due to global carbon emissions. He will call for better access to climate funding and support for dealing with the losses affecting high-altitude mountain ecosystems.
  2. Global Peace and Conflict Resolution:
The Prime Minister will reaffirm Nepal’s commitment to staying neutral and working with others diplomatically. He will ask for an immediate end to all global conflicts and urge powerful nations to follow the United Nations’ rules.
  3. Graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) Status:
As Nepal prepares to move away from its Least Developed Country label, PM Shah will seek help from international development partners to keep trade benefits, favorable financing, and sustainable technology transfers.

During his visit, PM Shah will also hold meetings with foreign leaders, UN officials, and international partners to strengthen Nepal’s relationships and seek support for its development needs.
