
The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has ordered the recall of a batch of Rara instant noodles after laboratory tests found the product failed to meet prescribed food quality standards.
The department directed the manufacturer to immediately remove the affected noodles from the market and stop their sale and distribution.
Specific Rara batch affected
The affected product is the 60-gram Rara instant noodles manufactured by Himgiri Foods Pvt Ltd, based in the Pokhara Industrial Area of Kaski.
According to the department, the affected packets are carrying the batch number REG 01 and were manufactured on February 5, 2026.
The manufacturer has stated a shelf life of 12 months from the date of production.
However, the department said the batch was classified as substandard after samples taken during routine market monitoring and inspection failed to meet the mandatory standards for food products.
Department orders immediate recall
The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has instructed the manufacturer to recall all the products from the affected batch manufactured in the company that have been distributed in the market.
It has also ordered that they should not be sold or distributed further.
The inspection and recall action was carried out under the provisions of Nepal’s Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081.
The department conducts regular market monitoring and laboratory testing to check whether the food products available to the consumers comply with the mandatory quality requirements.
Consumers advised not to consume affected batch
The department has advised consumers to check the production date and batch number before buying or consuming Rara noodles.
Consumers who have the products bearing the affected batch number REG 01, manufactured on February 5, 2026, have been advised not to buy or consume them.
The recall is for the identified batch and does not indicate that all Rara noodle products are affected.
The department’s action follows laboratory testing of samples collected during its routine inspection programme.
