
Nepal’s women’s cricket captain Indu Barma played a key role as the Toronto Sixers defeated the Vancouver Warriors by six wickets to win the Canada Super 60 women’s title in Vancouver on Sunday.
The Vancouver Warriors scored 84 runs for nine wickets in 10 overs after being sent to bat. Sophie Reid was the top scorer with 35 runs off 28 balls, while South African all-rounder Marizanne Kapp contributed 16 runs off nine deliveries.
Indu Barma was crucial for Toronto, taking the wicket of Kapp for 16 runs, finishing her bowling with one wicket for 28 runs in two overs.
Toronto faced early challenges while chasing, losing four wickets for just 39 runs. However, Ella McCaughan and Indu Barma steadied the innings with an unbeaten partnership, helping the Sixers reach their target.
McCaughan ended with 36 not out from 20 balls, and Barma scored 18 not out from 13 balls, including a six.
Toronto completed their chase with a score of 85 for four in 9.3 overs, finishing with three balls to spare.
Barma’s Key Contributions
Barma’s contributions were essential throughout Toronto’s campaign. She ended the tournament with four wickets in four matches, playing a significant role in each of Toronto’s knockout victories.
The tournament began with a loss to the Vancouver Warriors, but Toronto rebounded strongly to claim the championship.
