
Senior journalist Hari Lamsal has passed away at 78 while receiving treatment for a lung illness at HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu.
Lamsal was a prominent figure in Nepali journalism, actively contributing to the field for over 50 years.
He previously held the position of chairperson for the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) in Kathmandu and provided editorial guidance to Rashtravani Weekly throughout his career.
Former FNJ chairperson Taranath Dahal expressed his condolences, highlighting Lamsal’s extensive 50-year involvement in Nepali journalism and his role as editor of Rashtravani Weekly.
Lamsal is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
Reports indicate that Lamsal had been receiving treatment for a lung condition prior to his passing at HAMS Hospital.
His death has saddened many in Nepal’s journalism community, who remember his long-standing commitment to the profession and his significant contributions to Nepali media.
The veteran journalist’s funeral will be held at Pashupati Aryaghat in Kathmandu, according to Ram Prasad Dahal, general secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists.
With Lamsal’s passing, Nepal’s journalism sector has lost a seasoned professional who dedicated over five decades to the field.
